Johnny Vong
Web & Graphic Designer and Writer
Johnny Vong grew up in Toronto, and studied at the Ontario College of Art & Design where he majored in Integrated Media (Film and Video). In the formative years, Johnny demonstrated a natural knack for being a creative problem solver, and was exposed to computers and technology at an early age. As a teenager in the 90's, he pushed his old 486 (w/ 50mhz and 20mb ram) to its limits. With the old machine, he operated a Renegade BBS, took part in the underground computer art scenes, and designed/coded his first websites. Along with gifted tech skills, Johnny was always a passionate film buff with eclectic taste and an almost encyclopedic knowledge of cinema. He considered David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, and Michelangelo Antonioni to be some of his favourite directors and early inspirations. Shortly after graduating from high school, he made the decision to pursue his passion and went to art school to make films. Through the school's liberal academic structure and along with the encouragement of his instructors, he experimented wildly and tried to find and develop his own cinematic voice. After graduating college, Johnny has worked as a filmmaker in various crew roles, website designer/developer, graphic designer, and photographer for several years. Johnny is currently writing and developing his personal projects, and plans to start his own production company in the very near future.
