Kelsey Matheson
Actor and Producer Kelsey Matheson was born in Calgary and began performing at the age of six, and years later found herself modeling and acting throughout Canada and eventually Japan. In 1998, Kelsey moved to Toronto to focus more seriously on film and television acting. In 2002 she was accepted at Circle In The Square Theatre School in New York City where she worked with, and was inspired by some of the toughest instructors in the business. Currently she continues to work and study her craft in Toronto, branching out where she can in New York, LA and Vancouver. In the midst of acting, Kelsey also has a few irons in the fire producing her own projects. Her new production company in the works grew out of Kelsey’s dedication to our artistic community as well as a determination to create her own work. This will be a production company that produces independent projects, working with small budgets and/or limited resources while keeping the integrity of the works intact. Some of these productions include the feature film DIRT written and directed by Matt Austin, a BravoFact short Grocery Mishap co-produced with MJ Shaw and written by Bruce Hunter, a staged production of Anthony Minghella’s Whale Music slated to run at The Tarragon Theatre in April 2007, and the 2006 “Best of Fringe” production of Allison McWood’s It Was Kit. Keep your eyes and ears open for the official launch of her new company! Kelsey has devoted her career to strengthening our film industry and is the Toronto Representative of the First Weekend Club. FWC is a cross-Canada organization that promotes great Canadian film through its membership and events. As the Toronto Representative, Kelsey helps to build audiences for strong Canadian cinema and works collaboratively with distributors, exhibitors, filmmakers and publicists. The mandate is to keep films in theatres longer by building awareness and strong box office for great Canadian films on opening weekends. FWC a free film club and grassroots initiative dedicated to promote a film's critical first weekend theatrical release. Kelsey Matheson’s introduction to Triple Take took place when she participated in the reading for They Suck in September 2002 and February 2003 and did a voice over for the ghost town trailer. |
