No Sweetheart Required
TORONTO, January 20, 2009 – Grab a friend, grab your ex, grab your mom or grab your sweetheart and head to No Sweetheart Required this February – a cabaret evening of short and sassy comedies and musical interludes featuring performers such as David Hein (co-creator of My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), First Nations mezzo soprano Marion Newman, comedians June Morrow and Liam Doherty, and musical and jazz veteran Bremner Duthie. Billed as the budget-conscious Valentine’s alternative for people with or without sweethearts, No Sweetheart Required features four sassy, short plays interspersed with comedic and musical interludes. Laugh out loud to Waxing Lyrical by Brenda Somers, starring Lindsay Empringham; join Doug’s Party by Brent Barkley, featuring Greg Corkum, Elisabeth Feltaous, Derek Perks and Michael Posthumus; delight in the rivalries exposed in Flowers by RJ Downes, featuring Erin Jones and Greg Corkum; and watch the sparks fly in Nice To Meet You by Yael Sirlin, featuring Adam Brooks and Sarah Campbell. Directors include Pat McCarthy, Blake Thorne, Anne Harper and Barbara LaRose.
