Production Manager needed

Theatre Aurora’s Playwrights of Spring Festival is looking for a Production Manager.
Job Specifications:

This is a four month non-union paid contract position starting January 1st, 2008 with a majority of the workload happening the month prior to and during the run of the Playwrights of Spring Festival April 3 – 19, 2008.

This position is responsible for the overall management of all technical requirements of the Festival, booking and use of theatre space, supervision of all crew working on the shows and liaison with the Executive Committee.

The position requires someone with knowledge and some experience in all technical aspects of theatrical production while providing that person with an opportunity to further develop skills and gain experience in the professional world. It would be an excellent opportunity for someone who
has recently finished their education in this field.

The appropriate candidate has to be well organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to manage and supervise a large number of people including set and lighting designers, actors, directors and stage managers.

The Production Manager will be involved in the interviewing and hiring of technical support staff and volunteers, as well as being directly involved in the planning and production of all three shows in the festival.

This position will also require the training of volunteers/apprentices and the teaching of at least one workshop in Technical Directing/Production Managing If required the Production Manager will also make reasonable personal appearances, media interviews and the like for the benefit of either the production(s) or the festival.
