Toronto After Dark Film Festival is thrilled to officially unveil its lineup of exciting new horror, sci-fi and action films that will screen this Oct 19-23,2022 at the city’s Scotiabank Theatre! Included in our 16th Annual Showcase of new thrills and chills from around the world are 10 Incredible Feature Films plus 26 Amazing Shorts!

We kick off in style with our festival opener PREY FOR THE DEVIL, the chilling new supernatural horror film from festival alumnus Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism). For more scares in the dark, look no further than the terrifying new Mexican witchcraft horror EVIL EYE!

Fans of a certain evil doll will scream with delight over LIVING WITH CHUCKY (no trailer), the Popcorn Frights Audience Award-winning feature from Kyra Elise Gardner about the Child’s Play franchise. And yes, the Official Chucky Doll will be coming with her for a photo op with fans!

This year’s zombie night features a double barrelled dose of brain munching mayhem with zombie action comedy MEXZOMBIES and the intense apocalyptic zombie actioner DAY ZERO. For more hardcore action, fans should check out the thrill-packed H4Z4RD, it’s Fast and the Furious done Belgian style!

Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans will be over the moon with this fantastic trio: Sundance hit sci-fi mystery horror SOMETHING IN THE DIRT from festival favourites Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (The Endless), THE LAIR the latest new epic sci-fi horror actioner from acclaimed festival alumnus Neil Marshall (The Descent), and FREAKS OUT, a stunning epic about a group of super powered circus artists fighting Nazis during World War II!

This year’s festival closer is HERE FOR BLOOD, the World Premiere of a brand new locally made horror action comedy. Full of great gore gags and action in the vein of The Evil Dead series, it’s a Toronto After Dark crowd-pleasing finale not to be missed!

Shorts After Dark...

This year, 26 amazing new short films from Canada and Around the World will screen as part of three different showcases: International Shorts Showcase: Bug Bites, Mantra, O, Role Play, Shut, Smile, The Blood Of The Dinosaurs, Tistlebu. Canadian Shorts Showcase: The Flying Sailor, Black Forest Sanitorium, Nude, The Fore-Men, The Temple, The Trunk, In The Shadows, The Community Canadian Pre-Feature Shorts: The Cradle, Horse Brothers, Le Dents De La Maison (Paws) , Cruise, Diggin’ A Hole, The Ratcatcher’s Daughter, In The Dark, Dissós, Anything, Anything and My Deep Dark Fears. As with the features, more info on the shorts will be announced on site, when individual tickets will go on sale closer to the festival dates.
